Dr. Alexander D. Abkin, MD

I had my gastric sleeve surgery on 8/28/23. Dr Abkin repaired a hiatal hernia while doing my sleeve. He called my wife and went over everything he had done. Recovery was pretty painless. Dr Abkin and his staff had gone over everything I needed to know to help with the recovery process prior to my surgery. A week and a half after surgery I was unfortunate enough to have formed a blood clot in my abdomen. Dr Abkin had informed me to go to the ER because it was a Saturday. Dr Jawed was on-call and saw me in the ER. He and Erik were on call that weekend and worked nonstop to figure out what was happening and made sure I got the right care from the hospital. I can’t say enough about Dr Abkin, Dr Jawed, and Erik. They are truly three amazing men who really care about you as a patient. When I was filing for disability while in the hospital, I was having issues with the company that pays my disability. I called JessMarie in the office and she took care of everything for me. Everyone I’ve dealt with at this practice has been nothing but amazing! I can’t say enough good things about Dr Abkin and this practice. I’d like to thank them all for making this whole process a smooth and easy process.

I had surgery on 9/6/22 and it was the best decision of my life. I am so grateful that Dr. Abkin was my surgeon. He put me at ease from my first consultation appointment. Everything went so smoothly the whole team was great. Very organized and had everything mapped out for me from day 1. Surgery was a breeze I had no complications and amazingly you can’t even notice any scars from surgery. I had my gallbladder removed a few years earlier from a different surgeon and Dr. Abkin was able to go in the same way as to have no additional marks. I really can’t say enough good things about Dr. Abkin and everyone at Advanced Laparoscopic. I’m down 120 lbs and not finished yet. And I know if I get stuck or anything they have great resources and nutritionists to help me get back on track. Thank you Dr. Abkin!

Dr. Abkins removed an Incisional Hernia today. He is the absolute best man for the job, but I have to mention Dr. R my anesthesiologist. Both excellent at their craft and awesome bedside manners. However, I could never leave out the staff in preop and the OR. It’s a shame that you can only give five stars to superstars. Dr. Abkins, Dr. R., Sool, Jackie C., Dan, Kaitlyn, Michelle (the pre-op call nurse) and the super friendly receptionist, Myrna, and her adorable assistant. I almost don’t want to write this review because I do not want to share as they are the best kept secret in Paramus, New Jersey. PS. On a real personal note, I would like to give a virtual hug to, Julia who took less than thirty seconds and found me a huge red bow online for my daughters’ new car. I had my original gastric bypass with Dr Abkin in 2001. Since then, he has been my surgeon multiple times. I trust him implicitly, and no one knows my anatomy better. Having a revision with him soon, and have no fears because I know he will take good care of me. After 22 years, I would recommend him to anyone looking for weight loss surgery.

I had my gastric sleeve surgery in 2021 with Dr Abkin, a hiatal hernia surgery with him in 2021 and just had my revision to gastric bypass with him in June of 2023. I have lost 122 pounds to date. Dr Abkin is hands down the most compassionate, helpful, knowledgeable and well versed dr I have ever used. He makes sure to explain everything very well and takes the time to answer any concerns or question you may have so that you feel completely comfortable prior to going into surgery with him. I have trusted him with three surgeries so far and would completely trust him with any more. His staff are compassionate, helpful and so friendly. The experience that I had had with this office is amazing and I recommend them to everyone I talk to about getting weight loss surgery. I would highly recommend Dr Abkin and his office to help you with your weight loss journey!
