Behind the Scenes
How We Verify 39,000+ Med Spas Without Taking a Cent
Every other directory in this space sells position. We refuse to. This is exactly how we build the list — and how the lights stay on without it.
If a directory will not tell you how it ranks and how it makes money, assume the two answers are the same. So here is ours, in full. We catalog and verify more than 39,000 medical spas across the country, and not one of them can buy a better organic position. Here is the pipeline that makes that claim true rather than slogan.
Where the listings come from
We assemble the universe of providers from public business records and manufacturer find-a-provider directories — the same provider-locator tools the device and injectable makers publish. That is how the database grows without us ever paying a spa for inclusion, or charging a spa to be included.
- Public business and location records form the spine: name, address, city, state, phone, and — where available — website and geocoded coordinates.
- Manufacturer provider locators add legitimacy signals: a clinic certified to use a specific device or injectable has cleared a real vendor bar.
- New providers enter with rating and review_count explicitly null/zero until we have aggregated public review data — we do not invent a score to fill a blank.
How we verify each one
A row in a spreadsheet is not a verified listing. Our minimum bar to appear in organic results: a real business name, a city and state, and at least one of address, phone, or website. Anything below that is held back, not ranked. A self-healing data filter runs across every ingest and merge path so the same junk cannot sneak in through a side door.
- Listings that fail the minimum are excluded from rankings until completed — they do not get a fake placeholder score.
- Closed or inactive businesses are pruned on a recurring cycle so the list does not rot.
- Owner-claimed listings get a "Verified by owner" badge after we confirm the contact — but claiming changes nothing about ranking. The badge is identity, not advantage.
The ranking, restated plainly
One formula, published and reproducible: priority score = rating × ln(review_count + 1). Rating is the multiplier so low-rated spas cannot buy their way up with review volume; the natural log keeps a five-star/three-review spa from leapfrogging a 4.7-star/2,000-review one. The same math runs against all 39,000+ providers. You can read the worked examples on How We Rank and check it yourself.
The promise
There is no "Featured organic" slot, no pay-to-skip-the-line, no sales team with a thumb on the list. The formula does not know who paid, because no one can.
So how do we eat?
Fair question — and the one most directories dodge. We do not take a cent to influence organic rankings, period. Anything commercial we ever run lives outside the ranked list and is labeled as what it is, with no effect on the priority score. The line we will not cross is the one everyone else built their business on: selling the order of the results. Sell ads if you must; do not sell the truth.
That is the whole pitch. Not "trust us" — verify us. The formula is published, the data minimums are published, the conflict policy is published. Hold us to all of it.
