EDITING POST, OLD POST BELOW THIS. EDIT: The doctors and nurses were amazing and treated us very well. Highly professional and very knowledgeable. I would love to come back here. Kelli is the best nurse ive ever worked with! Once you get past the young receptionists the hospital is great, students and staff! Original post:Walked into reception and the lady had a water bottle full of stickers talking about how she has terrible mental health, red flag for you there, saw a nurse with a large badge that said 'i dont know, I just work here' it doesnt matter if that was supposed to be in good fun or not, its not something you want to see in a hospital while your wife is about to give birth. Only allowed two visitors, however as the husband/father you are counted as one of the visitors so if your parents come its no longer family time after birth. The rooms are large enough to have at least 6-8 people in to visit with multiple chairs and a good size hospital couch but only two visitors are allowed and you discredit the husband? The staff doesnt even acknowledge the husband when talking about the child and situation from as simple as my phone number to how many kids we have and medicines, they only talk to the mother of the child like a woman giving birth can always think clearly and remember details. Very insulting and unprofessional.

You will not be given a heads-up of how much anything will cost - even if it will be many thousndas of dollars for rudimentary tests. Two basic allergist visits (allergen prick test and an asthma test) will cost me $5000, AFTER insurance. For specialists UNMC bill you/your insurance DOUBLE for each service - charging for the hospital's resources and the specialists'. Service is good, but they will not shy away from extracting as much money as they possibly can from you. These are bad people, when it comes down to it.

I recently had a hysterectomy done by Dr katherine lessman. The staff there was amazing I have spent the better part of two decades fighting over two states I have seen 15 doctors to try to get the procedure done. My menstrual cycles were so awful that I could not function because they would put me in the hospital needing blood transfusions and made me so sick I would be bedridden for sometimes two and a half weeks at a time. The surgery went smooth I'm at home recovering now. She has messaged me through my patient portal to check on me. The staff was lovely and I couldn't have asked for a better outcome. I finally had a doctor do what was medically right for me and I cannot be grateful enough. I I'm looking forward to being fully recovered and being able to be functional in my life with a new light that I've never had in my life before. Thank you everyone who was involved with my surgery and my care you are truly amazing people.

the most incompetent administration/ front desk people you will ever have the displeasure of interacting with. getting a referral into them is a herculean task. and if you go in person they’ll literally tell you they have the referral, but if you call them they say they don’t have the referral. unbelievably bad service, a disgrace to healthcare as a whole. this place is a shining example of why so many people despise american healthcare.

After getting to the er from being transferred from bellevue we sat in the er for 4 hrs before we seen a Dr. After seeing a Dr we were in er for a day and half before we got admitted due to "lack of space" then we get a room on the 9th floor of Clarkson tower! The nurses are worthless. Shes a fall patient so cant get out of bed by herself. Push nurse button takes 45 mins for someone to show up then they say ill let the nurse know and leave! The nurse comes in amd helps her to the toilet and hr after needing to! Then she asks me to stay there with her so she can go do other work and she'll be back! The staff here is lazy/ incompetent of doing work! If you are dying risk it to go elsewhere! Me nor anyone i love will never be back to this hospital! Took 5 hrs for lunch to arrive. Called back to check and they say sorry it didnt print well get it to you! The room we went to had opened sodas and cans of soda all over the room. Assuming wasn't cleaned before we arrived! DO NOT GO HERE EVEN IF YOUR DYING. RISK IR TO GO ELSEWHERE. We have filed the paperwork for a grievance over medication being given that wasn't scanned! This place is a nightmare. The house keeping is terrible. Nurses just throw bloody things all over the place. House keeping doesn't clean anything in 3 days we've been in the room! Shes been in bed for 3 days and hasn't been offered a shower. I did it myself because they won't!
