☆☆☆☆Susan Leonard

My experience at Northwest ER was the worst healthcare experience that I have ever had. I would avoid this ER at all cost. I arrived at ER on a Saturday morning at 10 am and there were a few people in the waiting room. Within the hour the ER doctor had come out to see me and talk to me in the waiting room, and ordered some tests for me. Within an hour I was checked in, blood drawn, given something for the pain and sent back out into the waiting room. After the tests were performed, about 2pm the ER doctor came out to see me and said that I needed to be admitted and possibly emergency abdominal surgery, that the GI doctor and then a surgeon would need to be consulted. The GI doctor came out to the waiting room and spoke to me that I needed to be admitted and hopefully they were get me n a room soon. By this time I was in a lot of pain and asking for something as well as how long it would take to get me in a room, the receptionist, and ER tech said they would check and get back to us. They never got back to us. Every hour we went back up to the window and ask what was happening and why I couldn't get something for pain. It was finally at 7:15pm that we were called and the ER tech took both myself and another couple into the ER. He pointed me to my room at the end of the hall, gave me the room number and said after he got the couple settled, he would be back to see me. I sat in my room for an hour, he never came back, and the nurse who finally came in, my husband had to go and find. I honestly don't know how this happens.. I was told I needed to be admitted after 5 hours of walking through the doors, I saw two doctors that knew the pain I was in, and I still waited in the ER waiting room for another 5 hours, all the while in horrible abdominal pain and no-one responding to my pain (even though every hour I went up to the window to ask for help). At one point my husband asked the tech at the window, "do we need to go to another hospital?' to which he replied with a bad attitude, "you can if you want to"...and after thinking for a minute said, "but we wouldn't advise it". What kind of a system is this that you don't have adequate help and leave people that are really sick and need to be hospitalized sitting for 8 hours without care in the ER waiting room, and another 2 hours in the room once they were brought into ER. I was so thankful that my husband and son were with me to witness. And for the record we were gentle and kind and never rude to anyone in our requests for help. I have never left a bad review in my life, and yet the care that Northwest offered me, (and everyone else that day I listened to complain in the waiting room) was horrendous. Once I was back in a room in ER, the nurse and every floor nurse, tech after that ( I spent 3 days in the hospital) was very kind.

Yes, they do have an office in Green Valley. Pretty laid back but professional staff. Just starting with this office, so I will continue ue this review at a latter date.

I am specifically reviewing NW Medical Center at La Cholla/Orange Grove. My husband had a good experience going in through ER and then being admitted for care. All the staff was friendly and competent. He wants to give special thanks to his daytime nurse, Cialo and his nighttime nurse, Jaqueline. He appreciates their good humor and care. The food was excellent!! No joking about hospital food at NW. We are grateful to the doctors and all the staff required to provide high quality care at NW Medical. Thank you!

Overall, not satisfied with the after care I received. The bed SUCKED! I know it’s a hospital bed but this had a large divot where my lower back and butt rested. I had to ask for several extra blankets just to make it manageable. That bed needs to be thrown away and replaced. I was extremely uncomfortable. My catheter was left in an extra 12 hours when it should’ve been removed 8 hrs after my surgery. Not to mention, my scheduled surgery (10:15am) didn’t actually happen until 12:31pm. Night nurses were better than the day nurses. Aside from the catheter oversight on the night nurses part. Day nurse took my catheter out but left the adhesive clip that held the catheter in place on my inner thigh. Said she’d be back with alcohol wipes to get it off. She didn’t come back. Heard across the hall day nurses forgot someone’s request for ice water. Day nurse came in to check and see if I’ve seen my Dr yet but still nothing about alcohol wipes, nor did I mention anything. After seeing my Dr and getting the ok to be released. The day nurse came back with my discharge paperwork. I asked about the adhesive clip. To which she handed me two of two wipes and said I could remove it. I’m glad this was a one off procedure and won’t be back if I can help it.

The staff was welcoming and attentive. My surgery was delayed due to an emergency surgery. Dr Balderman and his staff let me know about the reason for the delay and kept me informed, so there weren’t any surprises. The OR staff was professional and helped put me at ease. They went over the procedure carefully. The recovery room staff was also most helpful, explaining that I would need to go to ICU to help with my blood pressure regulation. I was discharged at noon on the following day. Thank you to all the staff for an excellent experience.
