Milan Institute of Cosmetology - El Paso

First two photos are before The rest are after On Friday Feb. 13, 2026 I had an appointment at Milan for a color retouch and new color on my front money piece. As seen in the before photos I had a reddish purple and wanted to be a more cool violet. So once I finished showing pictures and telling the stylist what I wanted she calls over an instructor to let her know what was going to be done. She then went to mix a bowl of bleach for the money piece, the bowl was mixed with 20 developer and I sat with it for about 15 mins. Her instructor then came to check and told the stylist some red was retaining in my ends, that instructor then advised the stylist to mix a new bowl of bleach with 30 developer and to apply directly on top of my hair that has bleach processing on it. After my stylist did as the instructor to her, she then applied the new mix of bleach directly to my scalp on my new virgin growth. I processed in total for an hour. Once is was finally rinsed and had my bleach parts dried the stylist applied the color, after sitting with the color for another 30 mins I was rinsed, once I was having my hair dried and styled I noticed that the color did not take on a majority of my money piece. The end result of my appointment that I paid $60 for was dead, dry, extremely damaged ends and 4 very painful chemical burns on my scalp. To be very clear I am not bashing the student stylist, she only did as she was instructed. I am infuriated by the carelessness of the instructor giving said directions. To be made to still pay for my service is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. To anyone wanting to come in the future I advise you to be VERY cautious about what is put on your hair.

I felt very welcome and she was full of knowledge of options for every type of student. 1. There is a financial aid office (Abigail (virtual) was wonderful and very helpful in explaining my options). 2. There is a Student Coordinator office that has resources available (example: Need a laptop, public transit options, food options, child care options). Some things to consider: 1. Milan Institute takes attendance very seriously, and it will affect your grade if you miss. 2. The tuition prices are somewhat high, but it is not expected to be paid while attending. For loans, there is a 6 month grace period post graduation.

It is such a relief to find a professional who is genuinely great at what they do. Emelismari did a fantastic job on my pedicure and made the entire experience so easy and comfortable. She is incredibly sweet and clearly takes a lot of pride in her work. I’m so happy I found her. Thank you.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had an amazing experience with Armida and her instructor Mr. James. I came in wanting to bleach both my hair and beard from dark brown/black to a smoky grey, which isn’t an easy color to get right—but they absolutely nailed it. They were professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to make sure the color came out exactly how I wanted. The final result looked incredible, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I highly recommend Armida and Mr. James to anyone looking for quality color work. I’ll definitely be coming back again!

First time & really great experience @ Milan Institute! Great music, very friendly vibe all round! Daphne ( barber) placed a lot of attention to my hair cut, and Sydney (miss G) was wonderful. Patient in giving instructions, kept the energy high, & made the ambient very comfortable. Hair cut came out great! One of my best experiences overall. Thank you Milan! 🙏🏼
